Hi! I'm João

João Filipe is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the highly respected Carrera Team in Brazil. As both a senior coach and gym manager at The Den Fight Centre in King’s Lynn, João plays a central role in the daily running of the gym and the continued development of The Den BJJ team.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been a major part of João’s life since childhood. After moving from Brazil to the United Kingdom, he quickly made an impact at The Den, bringing with him a lifetime of experience, modern training methods and the latest drills and techniques used in high-level competitive BJJ.

João is known for his calm, relaxed and approachable coaching style. He has an excellent ability to break down complex techniques into clear, easy-to-understand steps, making his classes suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced competitors.

Whether you are taking your first steps as a white belt, preparing for competition or working towards the highest levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, João understands how to help each student develop their technique, confidence and overall game.

Alongside his coaching, João helps manage The Den Fight Centre, supporting its members, coaches and competition team while helping to maintain the welcoming, professional atmosphere for which the gym is known.
